BAM! includes the ability to build some types of assets that deliver special functionality.  The list of builders will grow over time, as new features and enhancements are added.  Not all builders are included with a standard license — see your Account Manager for more information about builders and licensing.

The Product Builder creates a Product asset, combining a series of image assets with Feature assets to produce a comprehensive and informative product walkaround.  These images can show different angles of a product or display different configurations or components, with clickable "hotspots" to highlight specific features.

Creating a New Product Asset

NOTE: Feature assets are the typical content used for hotspots, so it's a best practice to create them first.  For information on creating Feature assets, please see the relevant documentation.  The images used for the different views of the product should already be uploaded to the BAM! Library, and should be formatted and sized appropriately for the best result. The rest of this guide assumes features are already created and that the required images are in the library.

To begin creating a Product asset, click the Builders button in the top navigation bar, then select the +Product button below the description:

The Product Builder page is displayed, and a new Product asset can be created:

To begin, fill in the fields on the right side:

  • Product Name - This is the name or model number of the product.
  • Description - This should be a brief description of the product, like a quick marketing sentence or two about what it is.
  • Preview Image - This is the image displayed in the Library for the product.  It should be a clear image of the product, to make it easier for users to identify it.
  • Tags - Additional keywords used to identify and label assets for easier searching and grouping.

Once the first fields in the Product Builder have been completed, click the Next button.  You will be prompted for a location within the library to save the Product.  Select the appropriate folder and click Create to save the draft asset.

Adding Images

Once the Product asset has been saved, you will be prompted to select the first background image.  In Product assets, a background image is used as the subject of one view of the product.  Select an image from the library and click Next.

A device template is displayed over the image to show where different screen sizes or shapes may cut off portions of the image. To change the overlay, click the button on the upper right of the image screen.  Currently, the most popular mobile screen aspect ratios are included.  More may be available in the future to support new devices.

These image guides are useful for deciding where to place hotspots (see next section below) so they are accessible on all target devices.  Further image editing may be necessary to fully display the product.

NOTE: The background image will always be displayed centered in the middle of the user's mobile device, regardless of the image's dimensions or that particular device's aspect ratio.

Adding Hotspots

Each product image may include up to 8 hotspots that can link to other assets within the MST.  To add a hotspot, simply click anywhere in the image.  You will then be prompted to select an asset that will be displayed when the hotspot is clicked:

In this case, a Feature asset was selected, but any asset in the library may be linked to a hotspot.  Once the asset is selected, you will return to the builder page.  A new hotspot is displayed where the image was clicked, and the linked asset is added to a list on the right side.  The hotspot may be moved by clicking and dragging it to the desired location on the image.  To add another hotspot, click another location in the image and repeat the process.

Hotspots will appear on the image, and a list of linked assets is on the right side of the screen.  These may be edited or deleted by clicking the icons in the list.

To add another image to the Product asset, click the

button at the bottom and select another image from the library.  Place hotspots and link them to other assets.  Add images and hotspots until you have finished, then click the Create button to save the complete Product asset to the library:
