Endpoints in BAM! represent a collection of assets through which users (with the appropriate privileges) can access approved content.  The Mobile Sales Tool endpoint, for example, represents all assets that are published to the MST.  Web Endpoints are endpoints that administrators can create within BAM! to hold collections of assets that are published for public access on the web.  When an asset is published to a Web Endpoint, BAM! will generate an embeddable, Public URL that can be used within websites outside of the BAM! platform.

NOTE: Complex assets created using the DAM's powerful builder functionality cannot be published to a Web Endpoint & cannot be associated with a Public URL as those compound assets depend on components & processes that are native to BAM! which aren't accessible to users outside of the BAM! platform.

Web Endpoints Settings

Administrators can review and configure the Web Endpoints options from within the DAM's Settings.  The Endpoint Title is an indicator used to identify the Web Endpoint within the DAM's sidebar, and the Root Folder is a folder within that endpoint to which assets can be published.  New folders can be created and nested within this Root Folder to help manage & structure web content in whatever manner best suits your organization:

To create a new Web Endpoint select Create New Endpoint from the Endpoint Selection dropdown menu.  Add a name for your endpoint in the Endpoint Title field - when you have completed creating a new Web Endpoint, this title will appear below the asset library, in the DAM sidebar, as a collapsible panel where you can view the published assets associated with this endpoint:

Next, name the Root Folder of your endpoint.  The Root Folder is the top-level folder in the endpoint where you can publish your assets.  A good practice is to name the Root Folder after the domain of the website that will host the assets.  Web Endpoint folders act much like other folders in BAM! - you can add subfolders and publish assets anywhere in the folder hierarchy.  However, there are a couple of differences to keep in mind for Web Endpoint folders:

  1. Permissions: Web Folders within the DAM asset library are only visible to users with the Content Admin role, or the Web Content User role
  2. Embeddable Public URLs: When an asset is published to a Web Endpoint, BAM! will make a public copy of the asset and create a URL that points to the copy.
  3. Organization: Subfolders within Web Endpoint's Root Folder are meant for organization only so that Content Admins can easily organize and find assets.  Changes to the folder structure will not impact the URL for a published asset.

The final setting to add is a 404 Image.  This is the image that BAM! will return if the asset is not available for some reason.  This could happen if the asset is deleted or unpublished but an external website still references the URL.  Selecting a new image will result in that image being served as the 404 Image across all of your Web Endpoints .  If you do not provide a 404 Image, BAM! will respond with the default image that is initially displayed within the Web Endpoint Settings. Click on the +Image button to modify the 404 Image:

You can add multiple Web Endpoints to your DAM or you can publish all of your web content to a single Web Endpoint

Web Endpoint Asset URLs

Publishing an asset to a Web Endpoint generates an embeddable URL that can be used within websites outside of the BAM! platform. This Public URL can be accessed by anybody with the link, and some consideration should be given to what assets are being published to Web Endpoints, how you intend to share them, and whom you intend to share them with.

These Public URLs can be accessed from within the asset library by hovering over the upper-right corner of the card of any assets that have been published to a web endpoint. Hovering above the link icon in an asset card will display the Public URL associated with that asset, and clicking on the link icon again (or clicking on the Copy icon displayed next to the URL) will copy that link to your clipboard:

The Public URL associated with an asset can also be displayed from within the asset's details by clicking on the Public URL icon in the lower-left corner. A dialog box will open displaying the Public URL, and clicking on the Copy icon will copy the URL to your clipboard.

NOTE: Publishing an asset to a Web Endpoint follows the same approval process as publishing to the Mobile Sales Tool. Users with the appropriate privileges can publish assets to a folder within a Web Endpoint and a user with content admin privileges must approve that content before it will generate a Public URL. A content admin can publish & approve an asset to a Web Endpoint in a single step.

Editing Web Endpoints

Existing Web Endpoints can be edited by selecting the appropriate endpoint's title from the Endpoint Selection dropdown box. Once selected, the  Endpoint Title Root Folder associated with that particular endpoint can be modified from their existing values. Any modifications to the 404 Image will persist across all of your Web Endpoints.

Be sure to Save any changes you have made before leaving the Settings page.

Deleting Web Endpoints

Web Endpoints can be deleted by selecting the appropriate endpoint's title from the Endpoint Selection dropdown box, and then clicking on the Delete button, which will prompt for confirmation before removing the selected endpoint. The Web Endpoint selected for deletion must not contain any published assets, and you will be unable to complete the deletion process until all of those assets are unpublished from the folders within that particular endpoint:

NOTE: Be especially careful when deleting a Web Endpoint from your instance of BAM!. Unlike folders in the DAM or MST asset libraries, deleting a Web Endpoint is a permanent action that can not be recovered from the Recycle Bin
